The yuck
Missoula has had an inversion the last couple of days...when a frozen fog layer forms in the cold pocket of air that has sunk down and been trapped in the valley. It happens when the air is calm and stable and means that in Missoula it is perpetually dark, grey, misty, and cold while the mountains and bigger valleys surrounding Missoula are in the bright warm beautiful sunshine. I managed to ride my bike above the inversion a few days ago - thats what the daytime pics are. The dark pics were taken on an early morning dark walk with the dogs up Mount Sentinel.
