It is official now that summer is here. Yesterday, we went to the farmers market (Mom bought the provisions while Jessie and I watched the kayakers in the river...Jessie is very excited about kayaking),
We had a good long holiday weekend with friends and lots of warm weather. Ryan and Elizabeth came up from Billings and stayed with us. We spent Sunday night in a teepee at Kirk and Carolyn's...it is their 'guest quarters'. Jessie really liked the teepee and was very excited about sleeping in it. We bundled up under a down comforter and two sleeping bags zipped together and all slept like, well, babies. Jessie also experienced the joy of popcicles and is now a true convert. We also planted some strawberries and two apple trees.
I went on a 3 hour mountain bike ride with nothing but shorts and t-shirt on and was not cold at all - the flowers are kicking after our cold wet spring,
I couldn't make it as far as I would have liked though, because there is still snow up high - this was taken about 11 miles from the house up toward Sheep Mountain.
While I was biking, Sharon finished planting the garden. I also mowed and we had to water the grass for the first time. We then cooked Brats on the grill and ate them with chips and cold beer on the back porch. We finished the day with a trip to the Big Dipper for some ice cream. Yum.
We went to Courtney and Jason's wedding last weekend in Birmingham...Jessie was a flower girl and Sharon was a bridesmaid. Both did remarkably well - especially Jessie. I think I deserve some credit here. I had to balance on these crazy 3 inch gold heels down a grass and stone aisle! She walked, just as she was instructed, with Emma, down the stairs, over the cobblestones, and up next to Mommy and stood there quietly all during the ceremony. She forgot to throw the lavender down the aisle, but remembered it once she was in place up front. She threw it out by the fistful in front of her the whole ceremony, at one point announcing that she was "dumping it out." Emma, the other flower girl, replenished Jessie's basket as Jessie emptied it to help keep her occupied. It worked like a charm. She then exited when cued, walked back over the cobblestones and to the steps. She took a quick break on the steps, plopping down with flower basket in hand on the first step, but then stood back up and soldiered on up the steps. During the reception, she whooped it up on the dance floor to the band. She'd dance up a storm and then as each song ended, she'd yell at the top of her lungs, "AGAIN!" She also went to the Birmingham Zoo with me and Emma and Emma's daddy Kevin. Boppie also went and spoiled us by letting Jessie and Emma sleep with her Friday and Saturday night while we all went out and partied after the events.
